Advocacy

For decades, those with disabilities were shut away in institutions. Today, there is still work to be done as we passionately promote the understanding that all people are valuable and integral to a thriving community.

As L’Arche GWDC, we are committed to sharing the gifts of people with intellectual disabilities and working together toward a more human society. Our mission requires that we, as a community, actively and urgently support the rights of people with intellectual disabilities to live full lives, receive affordable and quality care, and widely share their unique gifts and talents.

Core members lead advocacy efforts, modeling how to build and grow communities where disabled people are leaders and decision-makers, and can meaningfully participate.

Together, we advocate for state and federal laws that support the rights of people with disabilities.
