Letting Our Light Shine: 2012 Annual Report

Published August 4 2012

A small spark was ignited when L’Arche welcomed its first core person twenty-nine years ago. Today, the sixteen adults with intellectual disabilities who live in our four homes are letting their lights shine brightly, going forth from Adams Morgan and Arlington Heights to touch the Greater Washington community.

You see, L’Arche is more than a group home. It is a community with a prophetic voice calling each of us to a deeper, more vulnerable, more trusting relationship with each other and with God. When we are attentive to that message, we are transformed. We are able to better receive the gifts of those around us, and we become less afraid to be ourselves. In essence, we learn to let our lights shine.

I look forward to seeing L’Arche’s prophetic voice grow in our community, and I hope you will continue to walk with us. Thank you for joining with us as a torchbearer for L’Arche.
