Thanks to a generous donor, any gift L’Arche receives between now and September 15 will be matched dollar-for-dollar (up to $100,000).
Donations make up about 30% of L’Arche’s annual budget and help cover expenses not paid for through government contracts, such as groceries, household items, transportation, outings, social activities, and spiritual retreats for community members. Many adults who have intellectual disabilities are lucky if they are able to go somewhere besides work or home once a month; at L’Arche, core people enjoy the freedom to choose when and where they go out.
In addition, L’Arche has a higher assistant:core person ratio than most group homes, leading to a better work-life balance and higher retention rates. Of the current full-time assistants, 32% have committed to staying with L’Arche for a second year, 8% have committed to a third year, and 28% have committed to four years or more. Assistant longevity is crucial to building stable homes where adults with intellectual disabilities can thrive.
Your donation makes an immediate impact on our homes, which are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Please consider a donation today and watch it be doubled!
Give online or send a check to L’Arche GWDC, P.O. Box 21471, Washington, DC 20009.
