On June 9, 2015, Liz Yoder from L’Arche Greater Washington DC attended the Catalogue for Philanthropy’s welcome night, honoring the DC area non-profits that will be recognized in the 2015-2016 Catalogue or online. This year, over 200 area non-profits applied to be published in the Catalogue.
The Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington engages with non-profits in our region to assess their impact to our DC area community through an intensive program review, financial assessment, and site visits. With the help of foundations, corporate giving programs, peer nonprofits, and the philanthropic advisory community, 78 non-profits were selected to be in the print catalogue, and 17 are to be featured on their website starting in November 2015. At June 9th’s event at the Clarendon Ballroom in Arlington, Barbara Harman, President and Editor of the Catalogue, also honored reviewers who went above and beyond to assist in selecting this year’s non-profits.
In the application process, L’Arche Greater Washington DC learned that we no longer qualified to enter into the Catalogue itself, based on the size of our operating budget. However, we have been recognized as one of the best in the DC area, and will continue to be listed on the Catalogue’s website as a “growth” organization. This is the third year L’Arche has been invited to share the good news that we are “One of the Best.” L’Arche was also honored to join in the Catalogue for a 5 year period in 2007-2008 and 2011-2012.
People using the Catalogue can learn of L’Arche and make gifts through the Catalogue’s website or directly through mailing a check to L’Arche or by following links to our website.
