About L’Arche Greater Washington DC

We are a nonprofit and a community of people with and without intellectual disabilities, providing housing and support services to adults with intellectual disabilities and offering a place of belonging and growth to a diversity of assistants, friends, and volunteers. Our community life is vibrant, while adapting to a year of pandemic restrictions, and continuing to share and grow our mission with government, business, and local partners. The Opportunity at L’Arche Greater Washington DC.
You are passionate about stewardship of resources in fulfilling the mission of L’Arche. You have experience in business leadership with a strong aptitude for the areas of finance and operation. In previous work, you lead with an eye toward sustainability and long-term growth. You value collaboration across contract services, human resources, advocacy and development on behalf of L’Arche, its mission, and the people it supports. The primary goal of the Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) role is to protect, facilitate, and expand the mission of L’Arche through leadership and systems that sustain L’Arche’s people and resources.

As part of the Executive Leadership Team:

  • You will be a thought leader on financial growth and sustainability.
  • You will facilitate innovative and successful contracts in areas including IT, facilities maintenance, accounting, consulting, and insurance.
  • You will lead in annual budgeting preparation, Medicaid Billing, financial audits and reporting.
  • You will collaborate with Human Services and Human Resources to ensure all resources are available to community.

  • You have a passion for thriving, person-centered operations.
  • You are prudent in sensitive matters and seek to honor the people of L’Arche.
  • You are a creative problem solver, and seek to work collaboratively across the L’Arche community.


A Day in the life

  • You will begin work virtually, supporting plans to transition to a flexible in-office work option.
  • You will process payable and receivable accounts.
  • You will fulfill financial reporting to the board of directors.
  • You will supervise the Business Manager to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • You will take time to build trust with L’Arche employees, vendors, contractors, and other partners.
