DSP Recognition Week: What is it and why does it matter?

Last week was Direct Support Professionals (DSP) Recognition Week.

Another name for DSPs in L’Arche is assistants. Assistants/DSPs not only provide amazing care with and for core members, they also make space and advocate with core members to lead the lives they want! That could mean so many things… like going on a trip or caring for our homes.

While we’re glad to have this national week honoring the vital work of caregivers across our country, we hope you’ll join us in appreciating and sharing the dedicated work our assistants do quite literally 365 days of the year for 24 hours every day.

Our way of life would not be possible without our assistants! This is why, in part, we work so hard alongside partners like you to pay our assistants the meaningful wages and benefits they deserve.

“Being an assistant has been more than just assisting, but building friendships and sharing laughs with core members that will last a lifetime,” Priya Ganganna, Euclid House Assistant shared. “The smiles never end.”
