The Community Connections Program (CCP)

L’Arche GWDC is excited to announce a new program for people with and without intellectual disabilities beginning January 2024!

Once a month, members of the CCP will meet for a time of prayer, friendship building, celebration, and participation in L’Arche’s mission of sharing the gifts of people with intellectual disabilities. CCP offers meaningful leadership opportunities, insight into the spirituality of L’Arche, and a community to belong to, for all members.

Name(Required)
Note: If you do not have an email address, please give us a call at (202) 232-4539.

Do I have to pay to join?

No, there are no dues or fees. It’s free to join.

Will there be food?

Light snacks will be provided.  Please let us know if you have particular dietary needs or allergies. There is a space available in Corry Hall, with outlets, for food prep should you need it.

Will trained support staff be present to support me?

This is a volunteer-run program.  While there may be Direct Support Professionals (DSPs/caregivers) present, anyone in need of direct care should ensure they have the staff/supports they’ll need for the duration of the program, including transportation.

Is the program accessible?

The building is wheelchair accessible, with accessible bathrooms on site. Programming will primarily be in English. Photo language is available for all CCP activities to promote participation for all members. Please let us know if you have any particular accessibility needs, so we can do our best to accommodate!

Do I have to be religious to participate in CCP?

No, L’Arche welcomes all members of any and no faith background to participate in CCP.  We ask that participants be open to hearing about L’Arche spirituality and participating in prayer.

Can I bring a friend if they haven't signed up?

Yes, please do! We’d love for more people to know about this program and feel welcome.  They can sign-up when they arrive at the program.

CCP is a volunteer-run program!  Volunteering is a great way to get connected with others and help build this community.

We are looking for volunteers to help with set-up (arrive 30 mins early), clean-up (stay 30 mins late), program facilitation, and snack provision.

If you’re interested, please email communityconnections@larche-gwdc.org or call us at (202) 232-4539. Thank you!

Corry Hall at Clarendon United Methodist Church | 606 N Irving St, Arlington, VA 22201

The church building is five blocks south of the Clarendon Metro Station (orange and silver lines), at the corner of 6th Street North and N. Irving Street. The main entrance to the sanctuary is on N. Irving Street. The best entrance for Corry Hall is from the parking lot right next to that church that connects N. Irving and N. Ivy Streets.

There are two designated church parking lots – one adjacent to the building and one across the street – and ample free street parking. Handicap accessible parking is located near the rear entrance on N. Ivy Street and also in the parking lot adjacent to the church.
