L'Arche GWDC

Three L’Arche artists are now showing their creations at Richmond’s Capitol.
The story of how is one that repeats itself over and over in our community in various different forms.
About a year ago, one of our volunteers at Highland House got very excited about the photographs he saw Hazel creating. He suggested that she might find a gallery to show her work. He was also impressed by the work he saw Fritz doing, particularly with spiritual images. He would go home excited, telling his wife and daughter what he was seeing and learning from the community members at L’Arche.
His daughter later started working for a delegate in the Virginia State House. The conversation came up there, and without too much hesitation, a project was created that would include artists with disabilities. The artists of the Virginia homes were asked to share art peices for the show, and their art was put into a larger collection with members from the Arc of Northern Virginia.
We are so grateful to have the opportunity to share the gifts of Hazel, Fritz and Charles at the Richmond Capital. Many thanks to the people who made this possible, especially the Cleva family, Delegate Kaye Kory, and Lucy Beadnell from the Arc of Northern Virginia.
