Role Description:

L’Arche Greater Washington, D.C. provides homes, residential services, and places of belonging for adults who have intellectual disabilities, the ‘core people’, in the context of an intentional, inter-denominational Christian community.

 

The Recruitment Coordinator will be an impactful communicator who can liaise well with
L’Arche GWDC’s leadership team, potential partners and applicants. They will attract people to the mission of L’Arche, focusing on how that mission is made known in the role of an assistant through mutual relationship and providing direct care to the core people.

 

Supervisor: Director of Human Resources

 

Part Time: 15 hours per week

 

Qualities and Qualifications:

  • In first impressions, shares L’Arche’s mission and the role of an assistant in such a way
    that each person wants to apply!
  • 2 or more years of experience in L’Arche or similar community
  • Experience in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring
  • Communicates the vision and mission of L’Arche in action, orally and in writing
  • Works independently from initiative to follow-through with projects
  • Willing to commit to the role for 2 years
  • Experience and desire to work with people with disabilities

 

Responsibilities:

  • Articulate the role of an assistant and community membership to those who inquire,
    applicants, and partner organizations
  • Lead the recruitment and discernment process of assistants; including advertising, initial contacts, and interviews
  • Develop and maintain relationships with universities, churches, and other employment partners
  • Increase the diversity potential candidates through new recruitment partners and/or activities
  • Respond to the needs of Director of Professional Services and community leadership regarding recruitment process, applicant and assistant needs
  • Collaborate with the Development Team on outreach programs (materials, presentations, etc)
  • Other duties, as assigned.
